About the Workshop:
This participatory workshop will address some of the significant dynamics of being a
white anti-racist minister in both urban and suburban settings. Particular attention will
be paid to several key dynamics: Alliances and accountability across color lines;
leveraging the white ally's privilege; transforming the consciousness of the pain of
racism; the contribtion of shared ministry in anti-racism. In addition a number of
critical polarities will be addressed: The Prophetic vs. The Institutional; The Personal
vs. The Collective Journey; The Spritual vs. The Political; Church as Sanctuary vs. Church
as Social Change Agent.
