UUs for Social Justice

About the Workshop:
This new partnership of sixteen UU congregations, five UU agencies and two UU related
community based organizations in the Baltimore Washington region is being created to: 1)
increase the resources to social justice non-profits; 2) increase social justice
participation in congregations; 3) impact public policy; 4) share information; and 5)
increase interfaith cooperation. Barbara, chairperson, and Bob, consultant, will describe
the eighteen months of organizing to build the partnership, UUSJ's vision and their
interest in seeing this replicated in other regions.
Workshop leader biographies:
Bob Johnsen, project consultant. Bob is currently the 1/2 time Growth consultant for
the Joseph Priestley District. He has assisted in the organizing of five new UU
congregations in JPD in the last six years. Prior to Bob's work with JPD he had his own
training center for community organizers and organizations and prior to that he organized
and/or directed community organizations in Chicago, Detroit, and Washington, DC and the
region.
