The following announcement is a sample of what could be included in newsletters and flyers advertising the district gathering on youth ministry. Please feel free to adapt it to reflect the specifics of your district's gathering.
On DATE at LOCATION, youth and adults from around the district will come together to assess how our district currently serves youth at the local and district levels. What opportunities are available for youth, and what ideas can our district share with the larger UU community? It's also a time to strategize about challenges we face in creating a strong and fulfilling community of youth. Let's make change!
Youth, ministers, religious educators, youth advisors, congregational leaders, parents, district staff and Board members are all encouraged to attend. We hope that a diverse group of youth will attend – of all ages and types of involvement. All voices are valuable to this discussion, because it is about serving every youth in our movement.
Over the past year, the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) has been gathering information from youth and congregations about their hopes for youth ministry. Over 1,000 youth participated in a survey and congregations across the continent (and in the DISTRICT) held intergenerational conversations about youth ministry. Now it's time for our district to contribute to this important and movement-changing discussion. See you there!
