An internship in the Unitarian Universalist Washington Office: Sept 1, 2002- July 31, 2003.

The Internship Experience Includes

  • Advocating for Unitarian Universalist positions, such as civil rights and reproductive choice, and learning how public policy is really made
  • Supporting congregations with information and resources, largely through our website, and learning how the Unitarian Universalist Association works
  • Connecting your experiences "on the job" with your Unitarian Universalist beliefs during periodic theological reflections
  • Anti-racism and other training, including travel to the UUA headquarters in Boston and other potential trips
  • A stipend to cover living, health insurance, and housing expenses (approx $1400 per month)

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Unitarian Universalists, and 18 years old by the start of the internship. Priority will be given to young adults, students, and seminarians
  • Successful applicants will have good writing skills, passion for the job, the ability to work independently, and some experience with either (1) a UU congregation or organization or (2) some type of lobbying or justice organizing

Deadline
Applications are due in our hands by Friday, March 1, 2002. E-mail is the preferred method. If mailing, we recommend using priority mail or another express-type service.

Application Process
Send a cover letter (1-2 pages explaining why you want the position and why you're qualified); resume (1-2 page summary of your organizing, work, and/or UU experience); and writing sample (1-2 pages from an article, paper, etc. that shows you can write well) to the address below.
