Matt Moore
It was 2AM at a YRUU Steering Committee meeting and I was talking with Duncan Metcalfe—a former Youth Programs Specialist. We agreed about how incredibly awful the current YRUU website was and came to the decisive conclusion that the site needed to be updated. We put the defibrillator to the computer screen to see what happened. I accepted the charge of slaying this daunting electronic beast. With the love of Peter Bowden, the Youth Office assistant, nearly two months later a new web page was born. I kicked up my heels and yelled out, "Wow, that's not too shabby!"
The New Website is broken down into seven sections:
- Home: resource spotlights, links to related websites, up-to-date conference info, staff applications, and more!
- Resources: a comprehensive list of resources for youth, advisors, and religious professionals.
- Local: all you need to know about growing and sustaining a local YRUU youth group.
- District: links to district web pages and information about services and opportunities on the district level.
- Continental: information about opportunities and conferences available at the continental level of YRUU.
- Governance: links to documents and information about the governing structure of YRUU.
- Youth Office: everything you need to know about the Youth Office's mission, services, opportunities and staff.
All this is fancy and action-packed, but one of the greatest new functions of the new site is the information on the very first page! Here are the headlines and happenings of the day as it arrives in the Youth Office. It's all too exciting, I know. Now sprint to your computers and go to http://www.uua.org/YRUU. |
