The Search for Religious Education Leadership:
Good Practices for Unitarian Universalist Congregations

A valuable on-line resource is now available for all congregations seeking non-ordained religious education leadership. The Religious Education Department has produced a guide, which outlines the process for hiring a religious educator. You can find the guide at

http://www.uua.org/re/curriculum/leadershipguide.pdf

It offers practical guidance on how to recruit select, and support a religious education professional. This booklet offers practical guidance on how to recruit, select and support a religious professional. It provides a description of the role of a search committee, how to conduct a congregational needs assessment, the necessity of considering the fiscal realities of professional staffing, the process of conducting a search, perspectives on visioning for the future and an array of resources to support the religious education programming in your congregation.

Even if a congregation already has a settled professional religious educator, this resource contains good practices that are never too late to be considered and to be working towards. (Please call Jean 617 742-2100 x361 if you need hard copy)

"This is a 'must have' resource for all congregations!" -- Cynthia Breen
