ORDER OF WORSHIP FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A DRE
Community Unitarian Universalist Church, Plano, TX

Welcome one and all, to our Unitarian Universalist religious community. We welcome you, whoever you are, whatever tradition, gender, lifestyle, or age you represent. In our presence may you walk the ways of trhuthfulness, service, and holiness. And through all your days and nights in our presence may you experience love.

Visitors are invited to complete a visitor card in the foyer, and are encouraged to speak with anyone wearing a green nametag about activities and programs of our church.

We invite all who gladly assume the privileges and responsibilities of membership to join us. We expect that prospective members will be acquainted with the meaning of Unitarian Universalism, have attended church long enough to feel at home with us, will be prepared to make a realistic financial commitment to the support of our work and will be as active as possible in the life of the congregation.

Following worship we gather in the Founders Hall to tarry for coffee, conversation, and fellowship. All are invited.

The communion of names lets us share with each other the joys and triumphs as well as the pain and sadness of the week so that we may keep those names in our thoughts and prayers. Announcements of a general interest are given later in the worship.

Open Dialog is a time for thoughtful refelctions and comments about the topic of the morning. Please do stand and speak up so all may have the benefit of hearing you.

Mrs. Zoeller-Dzyacky
In the Free Church tradition, the relationship which we are about torecognize lies wholly between the people of a church and the religious leadership whom they have chosen to serve them. The right to select our Religious Educators is a precious part of our living heritage. Last January we installed Anne Smith as our co-director of Religious Education.

This morning, we establish a covenant between our selves, and our new co-director of Religious Education, Courtney Hollands, who joins Anne in this special ministry to our children and youth. It is a covenant, not of law, but of the spirit. It symbolizes a mutual commitment, an affirmation of shared trust and responsibility.

If you, the people of Community Unitarian Universalist Church, are prepared to exercise your collective power to install Courtney Hollands as our co-director of Religious Education, and if you acknowledge the responsibility of free individuals to choose their own manner of religious leadership and if you understand your obligation of loyalty, truth, and love, which this act embodies, please rise.

The People
Recognizing this responsibility, we are ready to take upon ourselves these obligations and we promise to fulfill them to the best of our ability.

Mrs. Zoeller-Dzyacky
Courtney Hollands, will you please rise? Are you prepared to accept formally the special ministry you offer to our children and youth?

Mrs. Hollands
Yes, I am.

Children & Youth
Courtney, as our Religious Educator, you have a unique relationship with us. Do you promise to let us come to you with our problems and doubts, our joys and sadness, and to help us grow into the best people we can be?

Mrs. Hollands
Yes, I do. Now, I have a question to you. Do you, the young people of our congregation, promise to bring to Anne and me your questions and doubts, your ideas and joys, your laughter and tears as we explore what it means to be Unitarian Universalists? If so, please say all together, WE DO!

Rev. Strong
The religious growth and learning of our children and youth are one of the most precious gifts we can offer parents and children. To those of you who have youngsters in the R.E. program, I ask: Will you promise to be an active part of your children’s religious education? Will you bring them faithfully to church? Will you share with them what they learn in their classes? Will you continue to help shape and expand our religious education program by volunteering to be involved, as best you can? If so, I invite your heartfelt response: WE WILL!

And to those of us who don't have children in our religious education program, I ask you ... Do you promise to support our co-directors of Religious Education? To teat them gently, to nurture them, to trust them, to challenge them, to guide them as they work with us and the children of our congregation? If you do, please offer your enthusiastic response: WE DO!

Let us now say together the covenant of love and affirmation:

All
With the expectation that you will always strive to be of service to all; with the promise that you will work for spiritual growth within yourselves as well as fostering spiritual growth of our children and youth; and with the hope that you will always reach for truth and insight, teaching as you can, we, the members and friends of Communitv Unitarian Universalist Church do hereby install you, Courtney Hollands, as our co-director of Religious Education. We pledge to walk with you in a partnership that strives to strengthen the life of our church and our liberal religious movement.

Mrs. Hollands
Mindful of its privileges and its responsibilities, I accept a ministry among our children, youth and their families. I know that I have the support of your hearts and hands as together we build here what no one of us could.achieve alone. I pledge to walk with you in openness of spirit, in the paths of truth as we discern them and in the bonds of caring and understanding.

The right hand of fellowship is offered and received.
