UNITARIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL SOCIETY: FUNDING FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Grant Application Process
The primary purpose of the USSS is to provide funds for the development, testing, publication, and distribution of religious education materials that can be used by churches, fellowships and individuals throughout the Unitairian Universalist Association. The USSS does not generally fund equipment, scholarships for individuals, site specific programs, or costs associated with attending conferences.

Grant applications are reviewed four times during the year and must be received by September 1, November 1, January 1, or March 1 for review at that month’s board meeting.

Applications should include the following information: The front page should provide

  • Date of application
  • Project title
  • Name of contact person
  • Church/organization, acting as a financial sponsor and making grant requests
  • Mailing address, telephone/fax numbers, email address
  • Amount of funds requested from USSS

Descrption of project (approximately 300 words)

  • Outline the type of project, goals, and philosophy
  • State the need the project is designed to fill
  • Indicate age levels or specific groups the project will serve.
  • Include sample lesson plans, chapter titles, project outline
  • Descrption of final project

A complete budget indicating all sources of funding

  • Provide a description of budget items
  • Chart an action plan with timeline for project completion

Projects must note funding support by USSS in the final product. USSS Board members are available for assistance.
