Thanks, first of all, to all you in the church who have given so much love and support to me and to my family during the last three weeks. It made a world of difference!
We have an exciting October happening, with much help from our teachers: Karen Friss, James and Michelle Catellier, Amy Silver, Jane Ready, Ed and Jane Wetzel, Ted Bast Carl Hansen, Kym Reeves and others. Thank you!
The Retreat is getting ready to happen, and we're hoping for a "full house" this year at our new location.
I'm sharing with you today a reading I received from Virginia Defourneaux. Although the author identity was stated as "borrowed," its message is one we call relate to. Thanks, Virginia!
To You, My Child
If there could be only one thing in life for me to teach you, I would teach you to love...
To respect others so that you may find respect in yourself.
To learn the value of giving so that if there comes a time in your life that someone really needs you will give.
To act in a manner that you would wish to be treated, to be proud of yourself.
To laugh and smile as much as you can, in order to help bring joy back into this world.
To have faith in others, to be understanding...
To stand tall in this world and to learn to depend on yourself.
To only take from this earth those things which you really need, so there will be enough for others.
To not depend on money or material things for your happiness, but to learn to appreciate the people who love you, and to find the peace and serenity within yourself.
To you, my child, I hope I have taught all of these things, for they are love.
]This message sounds much like the principles we teach, the covenant we recite, and the ways in which we hope our children will grow in this religion we embraced called Unitarian Universalism.
