Teacher Questionnaire
Virginia Steel, DRE
First Parish of Sudbury, MA, UU
Here are the questions we used to good effect last spring. Some teachers
took advantage of the chance to answer in person or on the phone.
Dear Teacher,
The RE Committee and I are interested in learning from each teacher what
some of the positives and some of the negatives of the teaching experience
have been this year. We hope to continually improve our program, and you
could help us in our efforts by answering the following questions and
bringing or sending this form back to us by ____. Your candid comments
are valuable in whatever form you'd like to give them. If you would rather
talk about any of this on the phone ___- ___-____ , or in person, just let me
know and I'll be happy to spend time with you.
With deep appreciation for your teaching the children, and your willingness
to also teach us in this way,
- What class did you teach during the 1999-2000 year? (I know the
answer - this is for the record!)
- What curriculum/a did you use?
- How did you like the curriculum? Did it work for you, for the kids?
What did you like or not like about it?
- What would you like to say about supplies and other resources? Is there
anything we should get to improve the supply/resource situation?
- How about scheduling? Sharing the teaching with the others on your
team? Class time vs. worship time? The length of the term?
- How well supported did you feel, (by me, or the RE Committee or in
general)? How could you have been better supported?
- How well-prepared did you feel to handle any behavioral issues? How
could the teacher orientation have helped more?
- What did the children in your class learn? Or how did any individuals grow in understanding? OR you can write your own question and answer it here.
- Please comment on the children's worship experience, in the sanctuary
and in the classroom.
- Since we truly appreciate the teaching you did this year, we hope you
would like to teach again. Would you?
- Would you like to teach the same children?
Or the same age level?
Or a particular topic: Our Jewish and Christian Heritage
Religions of the World
Interdependence with the Web of Existence
- Is there someone you'd especially enjoy teaching with? Who is he/she?
- Is there someone you'd like to suggest we ask to teach?
(Who would be an especially good teacher for your children, if you have children in the program?)
- What else would you like us to learn?
