Why join CLF?—from the point of view of a UU religious educator.
Cheryll Wallace, DRE, First Unitarian Church of Omaha, NE
“I have worked in more than one church and have made it my practice not to join the
congregation where I work. I find that it is easier for me to maintain boundaries that provide
for a healthy work environment when I am a staff person only. However, as a person of faith, I
still need and long for a faith community to belong to that offers me personal support and
encouragement to spiritual growth. Thank the Universe for CLF! By joining CLF I am not only a
part of the interconnected UU community, I also have the support of a minister, religious
educator and other vital staff. I receive the UU World and Quest magazine to nourish my
spirit, have access to a whole host of resources available online and in the CLF lending library.
And, when I go to General Assembly, I worship with my fellow church members and volunteer
in the CLF booth to share the good news of my church with those who are seeking a
congregation that they can belong to no matter where they find themselves. With all of these
reasons, how could I not belong to CLF?”
