Unitarian Universalist World Travelers
This guidebook can serve as an introduction or supplement to the world
religions or multicultural curricular strands in your congregation’s
RE program. Each Sunday children “tour” a different country,
learn about that country’s culture, religions, and history, and
engage in music and dance, arts and crafts, games and activities led by
congregational members/families. The program is provided by the leaders,
called “Tour Guides,” who have volunteered to plan and lead
a Sunday tour, share their knowledge, and bring their travel experiences
into the classroom. Each Sunday children have their “passports”
stamped with a flag sticker of the country they have visited. A Bon Voyage
party launches the adventures of the summer program, and a Welcome Home
party celebrates the conclusion of the program at summer’s end.
Unitarian Universalist Movers and Shakers
This guidebook can serve as an introduction or supplement to UU identity
education, including UU history and heritage themes in your congregation’s
RE program. Each Sunday children “meet” a different Unitarian
or Universalist (or Transcendentalist), learn about their life, their
passions and accomplishments, and their contributions to society and to
our faith. Leaders (“Host/Guest”) provide the program’s
content by relating the life story of a UU mover/shaker and how they lived
their principles through stories and dramatizations, music and arts, games
and activities. Every Sunday children sign a Guest Book and receive UU
biographical cards. A Step Back in Time party begins the program and a
Welcome Home Party concludes the program.
