Purpose: To train a cadre of religious educators, ministers, and
lay leaders to assist, train, and educate people in UU churches to create
welcoming congregations for children with special challenges.
- Training is 15 hours and can be listed in the RE portfolio as part
of the RE credentialing process.
- Training is based on Sally Patton’s book Welcoming Children
with Special Needs: A Guide for Faith Communities, to be released
September 2004. Participants will be expected to buy the book at $18.00.
- Participants will receive the Involve Implementation Manual
available to download mid-June 2004 from Sally’s web site www.embracechildspirit.org.
- As a result of the Involve Training, qualified leader/facilitators
using the Guide and the Implementation Manual will help
UU churches build an intergenerational and welcoming faith community
for children with special challenges and thus all children in our churches.
