- Theme and Description
- Promotes respect and care for the earth. Children learn to protect and care for nature and the environment and "to feel empowered to be part of the crew on our spaceship Earth." Themes include natural resources, garbage handling and recycling, taking action, and celebration.

To learn about natural resources and recycling;
To feel empowered to take ecological action;
To celebrate the earth and their efforts to care for it.

- Space Requirements
- A large enough space for all participants to gather, and areas or rooms for small-group work
- Number and Length of Sessions
- 5 sessions
Length: 1 hour - Leader Training
- No special training or expertise required. Team leadership recommended.
- Leader Preparation
- 1 1/2 to 2 hours per session
- Strengths
- Addresses a topic of interest and concern to children.
Can be used with a wide age range.
Encourages joint projects between religious education and social action groups.
Provides an opportunity for intergenerational celebration.
Includes a list of resources. - Limitations
- Gives minimal leader background information or guidelines.
Requires books and other resources not included. - Adaptability
- Can be used with same-age groups or with children ranging from 5 to 14 years old; very helpful for small church schools.
Can be the basis of intergenerational programming
Can be used in camps and conferences and in non-religious settings. - Unitarian Universalist Values
