Internship Clearinghouse

Internship Clearinghouse Coordinator: Rev. Kim Wilson, mpl_interncoordinator@uua.org Email Address, (203) 421-0148, Mailing Address: 160 Princess Drive, Madison, CT 06443

The Internship Clearinghouse serves ministerial candidates and internship sites. Under the supervision of the Director of Ministerial Credentialing, the Clearinghouse's coordinator works with:

  • Prospective interns in finding, designing, and completing internships. To this end, the coordinator maintains two databases: one of available UUA  Internship Sites and another of Prospective Interns, and is available to answer questions, provide information, and assist prospective interns in creating a high-quality internship experience.
  • Congregations in developing new internship sites, finding interns, and strengthening existing programs. The coordinator works with supervisors, intern committees, and governing boards about issues that may arise during an internship. The Internship Clearinghouse also administers the internship stipend grant program which provides matching funds for new internship sites.

Internship Matches:  Many prospective interns and sites are making final choices regarding internships, although there are still quite a few of both still looking.  If you’re a prospective intern still seeking a site or represent a site that hasn’t found an intern, please be sure to check the appropriate profiles ¾ there are links at the bottom of this page which you can click on to access information about available interns and sites.  And if you need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to e-mail or me.

Contact the Clearinghouse!   If you are a recently-hired intern for 2007-2008 or are representing a site and have found an intern, the Clearinghouse needs to have that information to keep the records (including the profiles on this site) current!

The Unitarian Universalist Ministerial Internship Manual:  Whether you are or will be in the role of intern, supervisor or intern committee member, the Manual and its associated resources are essential reading in understanding the ins and outs of a UUA internship.  Equally important is the Internship Manual Supplement, which contains important changes to policies and guidelines and is continually updated.  All can be downloaded below.  New stipend recommendations and tax status information are included in Supplement and by clicking on the link above.

Summer Ministries:  Now is not too soon for congregations planning to hire a summer minister to list their site with us.  If you’re interested in working as a summer minister or you’re offering a summer 2007 ministry position, you can click on the appropriate link below to read about positions available or to enter the details of the one you’re offering.

Interns, supervisors and intern committees who are currently involved in an internship:  Just a reminder that I’m available for consultation any time during the year.  If you have any questions or need clarification or guidance on any internship-related issue, please feel free to be in touch.

Yours in faith,

Rev. Kim Wilson
