THE UNCOMMON DENOMINATION. was registered as a
service mark of the UUA in order to provide us access to the legal
process should we ever need to stop or prohibit misuse of this phrase
by other organizations. Maintaining a service mark requires that
simple permission and records of use be kept. This document, along
with the Covenant for
Use
which we provide here, serves as the permission needed for our member
congregations.

of the message in the established type face and color scheme. May
they grow our faith in your community in ways enriching and challenging!
Here's the legal language we need to inform you about:
THE UNCOMMON DENOMINATION. is a registered service mark of the
Unitarian Universalist Association. Others may use it only with
the Association's express permission. Member congregations of the
UUA may use THE UNCOMMON DENOMINATION. in connection with their
activities provided such activities are consistent with the practices
and tenets of the Association. Permission granted to use THE UNCOMMON
DENOMINATION. to any person or organization (including member congregations) may
be revoked by the Association at any time effective upon written
notice of such revocation. Use of THE UNCOMMON DENOMINATION.
materials shall constitute the user's acknowledgment of and
agreement to the foregoing terms.
When using the phrase The Uncommon Denomination. it must appear with
the "service mark" above the period after the final n in denomination
and look like this: The Uncommon Denomination. sm
