A letter from UUA President William G. Sinkford
October
3, 2003
Dear Friends,
It is with great sadness that I report that Diane Olson resigned
yesterday from her position as Moderator of the Association. During
the last year, Diane has struggled with personal and health issues
which, she has decided, make her continued service impossible. Though
I deeply regret that she had to make this decision, I applaud her
courage in recognizing that her first priority must be care for
herself and her family. Unitarian Universalism is, and will remain,
profoundly grateful to Diane for her years of service in many important
leadership positions and especially for her offering her gifts to
the Association as Moderator. I hope you will join me in holding
Diane in your hearts and prayers.
The Executive Committee of the UUA Board of Trustees met by conference
call this morning to determine the necessary steps in this time
of transition. Details of this transition process are outlined in
a letter from the Executive Committee.
The work of the Association will go forward. But for now, please
make a space in your hearts to acknowledge our deep gratitude to
Diane and our hopes for her healing.
In faith,
Rev. William Sinkford
President
Unitarian Universalist Association
