Our Whole Lives
What is Sexuality and Our Faith?
Sexuality and Our Faith is a series of five companion resources, one
for each of the five age levels of Our Whole Lives. Sexuality and
Our Faith provides a framework for incorporating specific faith-based teaching
and practice into each session of the curriculum. This framework includes:
- Suggestions for worship or religious ritual to open and close each session
- Additional discussion questions for Our Whole Lives activities,
designed to draw out the connections between the session topics and specific
religious teachings and values
- An articulation of the religious values and philosophies that guide the
program
- Helpful suggestions for establishing sexuality education programs in Unitarian
Universalist and United Church of Christ settings
- Lesson plans for additional parent orientation
- A video for Grades 10-12 and a slide set for Grades 7-9, purchased separately.
Sexuality and Our Faith is designed to be integrated with Our Whole
Lives in the Unitarian Universalist or United Church of Christ classroom.
This integration is facilitated in the following ways:
- Sexuality and Our Faith includes separate Unitarian Universalist
and United Church of Christ material
- The Sexuality and Our Faith materials are specific to each session,
with clear indication of when the materials should be used
- The pages of Our Whole Lives and Sexuality and Our Faith are
three-hole punched and perforated. Leaders can physically integrate each session's
Sexuality and Our Faith material in a three-ring binder with each session's
Our Whole Lives activities
Slide Set and Video:
The Sexuality and Our Faith Slide Set for Grades 7-9 and Video
for Grades 10-12 are designed for use in Unitarian Universalist and United
Church of Christ congregations. They are optional, and the programs are complete
and comprehensive with or without them. The slide set can be ordered by congregations
only after the congregation's Our Whole Lives leaders have competed
training in the use of the Slide Set. Likewise, the video can be ordered by
congregations only after the congregation's Our Whole Lives leaders
have competed training in the use of the video.
