“Calling All Hearts”
Anniversary Cards from UU Children to Massachusetts Newlyweds
The thousands of hand-made “Happy Anniversary” heart cards that
are displayed throughout the UUA’s national headquarters in Boston were
sent from 78 congregations in 26 different states and several countries. Guests
are invited to read the loving messages of celebration sent by children to same-sex
couples married in Massachusetts since May 17th, 2004.
Children enrolled in Unitarian Universalist religious education classes learn
to value and support all sorts of families. As one of the hearts so eloquently
says, “Love is the Blueprint of a Family!”
The comments below are a small sampling from some of the religious education
teachers whose classes made cards:

The kids did it as part of an intergenerational service on Mother's Day
entitled All Our Families. They enjoyed it and the hearts and ribbons made
the meeting space look very festive for the service. Thanks for this opportunity
to participate.
