UUA-UUSC Gulf Coast Relief Fund Update:

At the end of 2006, the relief fund has received $3,622,250, thanks to the matching grant offered by the UU Congregation at Shelter Rock. Thank you for your generosity! To date, $2,366,387 has been spent to directly serve those in need.

October 20, 2005: Update on the work of the UUA-UUSC Gulf Coast Relief Fund Panel

The UUA-UUSC Gulf Coast Relief Fund Panel will make decisions on the distribution of funds from the Relief Fund. Panel members are:

Eunice Benton, District Executive, UUA's Mid-South District
Rev. Steve J. Crump, Sr. Minister, Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge, LA 
Dr. Rebecca Cureau, New Orleans native and long-term member of the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge, LA
Atema Eclai, Director of Programs, UU Service Committee
Rev. Anne Odin Heller, Interim District Executive, UUA's Southwest District
Rev. Jacqueline Luck, Minister, UU Church of Jackson, MS, and Our Home Universalist Unitarian Church in Ellisville, MS
Rev. Meg Riley (Chair of the Panel), Director, UUA's Advocacy and Witness Staff Group

Statement from the Panel:
(September 6, 2005)

All funds received in the UUA-UUSC Gulf Coast Relief Fund will be used

  1. to address the needs of the most disadvantaged and marginalized communities in the affected areas as they rebuild their lives and livelihoods, and 
  2. to support Unitarian Universalist congregations as they rebuild their ministries in the region of the hurricane.
