  • May I become at all times, both now and forever
    A protector for those without protection,
    A guide for those who have lost their way,
    A ship for those with oceans to cross,
    A bridge for those with rivers to cross,
    A sanctuary for those in danger,
    A lamp for those without light,
    A place of refuge for those who lack shelter
    And a servant to all in need.

    the Dalai Lama, adapted from "Ethics for the New Millennium"
    submitted by the Rev. Alex Holt

  • Peace Prayer by Susan Veronica Rak

  • O Lord,
    open my eyes that I may see the needs of others;
    open my ears that I may hear their cries;
    open my heart so that they may not be without succor;

    let me not be afraid to defend the weak because of the anger of the strong,
    no afraid to defend the poor because of the anger of the rich.

    Show me where love and hope and faith are needed,
    and use me to bring them to those places.

    And so open my eyes and my ears
    that I may this coming day be able to do some work of peace for thee.
    Amen.

  • Mother of Exiles, Shelter of the Homeless,
    we are in need of your mercy.
    We ask your blessing on your children everywhere
    who are in danger today.
    Bless all who suffer from injustice.
    Shelter them in the warmth of your love
    and safeguard them from the evil that rages around them.
    Turn our eyes and hearts to their needs
    and give us courage to act for their good.
    We ask this, relying on your compassion
    and confident of your love. Amen
