Liturgical Elements, UU Perspectives: The War in Iraq

Prayer

Meditation

Williamsburg Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Williamsburg, VA
Rev. Dr. Randolph Becker
March 20, 2003

As you awake to this day I offer this  meditations:
(to be repeated over and over again)

- - in sadness I greet this day in which might is said to be used in the
name of right

- - in compassion I greet this day in which, sadly,  people will die at the
hands of others who claim to know what is right (it does not matter if they
be civilians or soldiers, or which side they are on, the loss of any
diminishes all)

- - in faith I greet this day in which all those who see a better world,
yet to be, speak out in courage and compassion

- - in hope I greet this day when I believe that people of faith will work
to cure the world of the madness of violence.

- - in humility I greet this day in which  I ask what my faith tells me  I
must do AND I WILL LISTEN.

- - in meditation and prayer, I greet this day when I seek to understand
the true values of my faith

-- then, in sadness, I greet this day in which might is said to be used in
the name of right.
