Daily Devotionals reflecting on September 11, 2002
by the Rev. John Morgan
Morning Prayer*
In the morning light, O God, I glimpse again your image deep
in us, the threshold of eternal glory woven into the fabric of every
man and woman. Again may I catch sight of the mystery of the human soul,
fashioned in your likeness, deeper than knowing, more enduring than
time. And in glimpsing these threads of light, amid the weakness and
distortions of my life, let me be recalled to the
strength and beauty of your image in every living soul. Amen.

Prayer Around the Meal (Light a candle)
As the light of life is lit, let me gather first in silence, giving
thanks
for family and friends and for all that has been provided me without
my asking
.
Now, out of the silence, let me speak words of gratitude for the
gifts of life given me:________________________________________
For these gifts, let me be truly grateful. Amen.
Evening Prayer
In the evening, as the light dwindles, keep alive in me the glow of
your presence, that I might be restored to fullness of being and an
openness to the powers that sustain and strengthen me. May I
never forget that to which my life is dedicated, trusting in that
inner conviction to guide my very being and to be a blessing to
others. Amid the deepening shadows, let me remember the light
which shines in every human being and in all creation, and dwell
in this understanding until new day breaks., trusting that I do not
walk alone.
Amen.
