Questions Needing Answers? Here's Where to Find Them

Have a question about the workings of the UUA, or where to find information about a specific project? Here are some of the areas people often ask about:

Adult education courses — Click here for a list of available curricula. Also contact your district office, which may have a lending library of curricula. Many Beacon Press books now have study guides making them suitable for adult education sessions.

Campus ministry — Contact the Young Adult/Campus Ministry office, 25 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02108; (617) 948-4629. See also the Web site of the Continental Unitarian Universalist Young Adult Network (C*UUYAN).

Congregational fundraising — such as annual canvasses, capital campaigns, and strategic planning services within the context of canvasses and capital campaigns, endowment programs, and building loan programs, contact the UUA's Office for Congregational Fundraising Services by contacting program administrator Glenn Charbonneau (gcharbonneau@uua.org) at (617) 948-4251.

Congregational service auctions — See "Annual Service Auctions Generate Cash, Sociability", InterConnections, July/August 1998. Included there is a step-by-step process for holding such an auction.

E-mail lists — There are more than 200 UUA-sponsored e-mail lists, pertaining to leadership, membership, finance, and many other issues. Find the one that fits your interest at www.uua.org/lists. Worried about being overwhelmed with e-mail if you subscribe to any more lists? Subscribe to the lists in digest form. You'll still get every complete message, but instead of arriving as individual e-mails they'll come grouped together.

General Assembly — Click here for information about General Assembly programs, registration, etc. Or contact the GA Office at 25 Beacon St. (617) 948-4209.

Social justice issues — Contact the UUA Washington Office for Faith in Action; (202) 296-4672, ext. 10. On the Washington office Web site you'll find: current information on legislation, background on specific issues, upcoming workshops, an e-mail alert list for "hot" topics. The office will also respond to e-mail and phone questions as time permits. The office would also like to know what social justice issues your congregation is pursuing.

Special projects — With funds provided by the UU Veatch Program at Shelter Rock, the UU Funding Program awards grants to UU and non-UU projects and organizations. UU World subscriptions — Write to circulation@uua.org, UUA, 25 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02108, with the names and addresses of new members of your congregation; only those who are official members receive UU World. Be sure to include your church identification number (found in the UUA directory next to the name of your church.) Use the same method to remove names of people who are no longer members and to send address changes and name changes.
