Consider one of the simplest and most rewarding gifts you can make
to Unitarian Universalism: a bequest in your will or other estate
plans. Many of us want to provide generously for the organizations
we cherish, in addition to our loved ones. A bequest of any size
in your estate plans can shape the future of this congregation and
ensure its vitality for generations to come.
A bequest can be "specific," for a particular dollar
amount, or "residual," for a percentage of your estate,
after other obligations have been met. Bequests also differ in terms
of how they may be used. An "unrestricted" bequests may
be used for any purpose of the congregation, and "restricted,"
is limited in scope, for example, to Religious Education programming,
or the congregation's Endowment Fund.
The UUA offers free, confidential resources, including bequest
language to share with your attorney, to anyone planning a bequest
to a UU congregation, the UUA, or a UU affiliate. Contact [insert
name], or the UUA gift planning team at 1-888-792-5885 for information.

One generous UU couple, Jan and Stu Sendell of Morristown, New
Jersey feel that Unitarian Universalism is part of their family.
They have arranged for their estates to be divided into four equal
portions-one for each of their children, and a fourth share to be
divided between the Unitarian Universalist Association and the Morristown
Unitarian Fellowship. Other UUs have created funds for social justice
work through estate plans, established ministerial scholarships,
or made a gift through an IRA or pension plan.

Would you like to make a gift of cash or securities to Unitarian
Universalism while retaining needed income for yourself and your
loved ones? The Unitarian Universalist Association offers free gift
planning services to all UUs and can help you make a "life-income"
gift to support our congregation, the UUA and/or another UU organization.
The two primary types of life-income gifts are the Charitable Gift
Annuity and the Pooled Income Fund.
Life-income gifts are rewarding and simple to arrange. You make
an irrevocable contribution of cash or securities and may claim
a one-time charitable deduction for part of your gift. In exchange,
you'll receive quarterly payments for life, guaranteed. One or two
people-you and your partner, for example-may be named as income
recipients. Payments can be either fixed or variable, depending
on the type of gift you choose. When you die, your gift is distributed
to the beneficiaries you've designated-our congregation, the UUA,
another UU affiliate, or a combination. It's entirely up to you!
Life-income gifts are a great way to give highly appreciated securities
because part or all of the capital gains tax may be excused, and
the remainder distributed over a period determined by life expectancy.
You may be able to generate a larger income stream from low-yielding
assets, and you'll create a wonderful legacy for our congregation.

enjoy, contact [insert name], or the UUA's Charitable Gift and Estate
Planning team, at 1-888-792-5885.
