UUA 101: Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQs)
UUA 101 is a workshop designed to provide basic information about
the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations-what the
UUA does, how it's organized, how it's governed, what services
it provides, how it's funded, etc.
- How can the workshop be used?
Lots of ways! In a local congregation, it can be used to inform
Denominational Affairs committees, congregational boards and/or
councils. It would make an interesting interactive Sunday service
or forum program. At the district level, it could be a stand-alone
workshop, or it could be a springboard for discussion and input
to your district's UUA Trustee. It could also be presented at
specialized district meetings, such as presidents' meetings. It
would be an excellent addition to Leadership Schools.
- Who can present the workshop? It special expertise required?
The workshop was originally designed for UUA Board of Trustee
members to present at district meetings, in conjunction with the
district's Annual Program Fund Chair. However, anyone who is willing
to spend a little time preparing can present it. Supplemental
materials and information are provided.
An hour and a quarter is ideal, but it can be done in less..
- Who is sponsoring UUA 101?
It was prepared by the Annual Program Fund Office of the UUA
to answer the oft-asked question, "What is the UUA, and what
does it do?"
- What help is available?
- Hyperlinks throughout this online version put you in touch
with an amazing amount of information about the UUA.
- Your minister and experienced members of the congregation
will be able to answer many questions.
- Your district's UUA Board Trustee is an excellent source
of information about Associational matters, as are your District
Staff. Either or both may be willing help with the presentation.
- Your district's Annual Program Fund Chair is well-informed about the UUA.
- The UUA Directory, available in your congregation's office,
is also a rich resource.
