1010 Mountain Desert District In-Gathering

Mountain Desert District president Dave Leonard welcomed about 50 participants to the first day of the General Assembly. We gathered to greet old friends, establish new friendships, and share news.

Ellen Germann-Melosh shared with us her sadness at leaving the district after four productive years as District Executive. Ellen will spend a year with her husband in Germany before returning with him to Tucson. We bade a fond farewell to Ellen, and we wish her the best for the future.

We welcome Rev. Nancy Bowen as our new District Executive. Nancy brings us eight years of experience with the Clara Barton district and is already well known to some in the Mountain Desert District. We look forward to working with Nancy as she explores the mountains and deserts of our district. Nancy is undaunted by the distances; she is no stranger to the West, having lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The western Colorado congregations are working hard to bring us together for the annual Mountain Desert District meeting to be held October 7-9, 2005 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Details and on-line registration are at www.uua.org/mdd/ac2005 .
