The crowd spilled out into the hall for the Soulful Sundown sponsored by the Young Adults. The Rev. John Gilmore provided opening drumming, followed with the opening words of the Rev. Abhi Janamanchi. A chalice lighting by Malini Ammon-Mulloli set the stage for the first of three songs by singer and guitarist Charise Sowells. The homily was delivered by the Rev. Dr. Kristen Harper and Joey Lyons. Identity is crucial to self-understanding, and a candle was passed through the room and recipients were invited to speak out one word for one of the identities brought into the room. Seeker, mother, child, artist, were among the more popular, but others claimed queer, suburban housewife, geek, and other equally esoteric identities.

The closing words by Harper sent the crowd on its way having shared the joy and love of the moment.
