Memories filled the Marriott as young and old danced to Special Blend, a Cleveland area band with great sounds and a danceable repertoire that spanned the decades. There were songs made popular by Elvis, the Stones, Village People, the Beatles a repertoire befitting Cleveland, the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The dance floor was jammed. People from 18 to 80 were moving, smiling and having a good time. It was a party a happy celebration to end an eventful week. Musicians joined dancers on the floor tossing out inflatable plastic instruments for air band wannabes. As the numbers of dancers increased, the action flowed out onto the rug. The sounds kept people on their feet.
Kyle Primous and Deborah Vargas were lead singers for most of the numbers. The entire band donned costumes for the Village People's "YMCA." Near the end of the evening, Mike Smith stepped forward with his guitar to do a good Mick Jagger imitation that he took down onto the dance floor. The witching hour came all too soon, too early for one dancer standing near the bandstand who wistfully said she hadn't heard her favorite. Kyle came down to the floor and sang it with her as a duet a happy ending to a great party.
