Moderators Elizabeth Martin and James Walker wrapped up the Youth Caucus business meeting with elections for several positions. They called up the youth who had been nominated for Working Action Manager and each of the Board of Trustees observer positions. After the speeches were concluded, Abbey Tennis, a current youth Board observer discussed what was needed for that position, and then James Walker discussed the WAM position. When this discussion ended the candidates left the room.A period of positive advocacy began with up to three youth speaking for each person running for a position. After that the youth were taught an affirming song to sing to the candidates as they returned to the room to assure those who were not elected that they were wonderful and exciting people.
Rev. Beth Graham, Board representative from the New York/Metro district, gave remarks designed to inspire the youth in their continuing activities and activism. She then told a story about great things and what is required for them to occur. Rev. Graham said that all of those ingredients were present at General Assembly, and that great things are being done by the youth.
Finally, the positions for next year were announced. The new Working Action Manager is Shea Schachameyer. Amir Fouad was reelected to the one year observer position, and Jacob Larson was elected to the two year Board observer position.
