Those at GA were enthusiastic about their experiences at Leadership School, but what, if anything, might be done differently? The list is as diverse as UUs.
One suggestion was that Leadership School should recognize a progression through various levels, that is, do not assume all participants are training to be board members. Some Leadership Schools have e-mail mailing lists so graduates can share experiences and seek advice. Those with access to these lists were appreciative.
Several people suggested one-day workshops, e.g., on the following topics:
- How to run a meeting
- How to walk to the front of a group and talk
- How to articulate what UU is about
- How to deal with toxic personalities
- How to integrate new members
- How to lead by listening
- Multiple ways of communicating
- Lay pastoral care
Peter Drucker said, "Leadership is vision, nothing more".
