Financial Services
Financial Services functions on several levels to serve the UUA
staff, board, committees, districts, member congregations, and
affiliate organizations in a manner that will foster shared stewardship
for the financial resources of the Association. The office
maintains financial records, prepares reports to measure and analyze
the use of resources, and pays staff and vendors.
The Treasurer is responsible for the financial business of the
Association. With the help of the Investment Committee, the Financial
Advisor, and the Endowment Funds Manager, he oversees the General
Investment Funds of the Association. These funds consist of
the endowments of the Association and of many member congregations
and affiliates. The Treasurer also monitors the Association's
investments to ensure their compliance with socially responsible
investment guidelines as set by the Board of Trustees and is an
ex officio member of the Committee
on Socially Responsible Investing.
To provide current information on the finances of the UUA, the Treasurer has prepared a number of reports, including the annual Treasurer's Report for GA 2006 , as well as the most recent UUA Audited Financial Statements for FY2006 and Management Letter .

Endowment Funds
The Endowment Section tracks the growth in and use of endowment
and other restricted funds for their designated purposes and issues
reports on these and related matters.
Building Loans and
Loan Guarantees
Under the supervision of the Congregational Properties Loan Commission,
the Treasurer advises member congregations in matters of mortgages
and other financing of their property. The office also administers
denominational assistance, such as building loans and guarantee
of mortgages on church property.
The treasurer is an ex officio member of the Committee
on Socially Responsible Investing which maintains investment
guidelines reflective of UU values, distributes information and
resources to harness the power of UUA constituencies and provides
outreach to UU households with equity holdings.
UUA Pension/Retirement
Plan
In cooperation with the Committee on Compensation, Benefits and
Pension, the Treasurer administers a 401(a) multiple-employer-defined
contribution pension plan.
