I would like to thank the UU's who have supported my daughter, Michelle (Mimi) LaValley, as she leaves on April 29 for the Women's Federal Corrections Institute at Danbury, CT as the result of her act of civil disobedience this fall to close the School of the Americas/ WHISC. Thank You for standing by my daughter.

I love you Michelle, and I will fly my American flag at half staff until you are released.

I've been reading about this for some time now just very hesitant to join. I always thought of myself as a "universal builder" and pride myself on not judging others or their religions and ways of life and I think this will be perfect for me.

I'm currently going through the process of becoming a member of the local congregation. I love the welcoming of diversity I see in my own congregation.

Thank you for the tour and the wonderful FAQ; poetic and resolute, UU has a wonderful draw for confused nontheists. See you soon in Bellevue!

I recently heard about UU and am very interested in it. I was raised in a very open minded home and this is the only religion I have found that shares all of my beliefs. I am only 15 and dont have a way to go to a UU church nearby but I am reading books about the religion, right now I am reading "A Chosen Faith".

Thank you for your web info. I am interested in UU. I too find it difficult to talk about God--and prefer instead to concentrate on acknowledging the presence of the divine in my life, being grateful for it and expressing my faith through actions.

I am an "investigating Episcopalian" and have found this web site to be a breath of religious fresh air. My investigations have led me to Burton Mack ("Q"), Robert Funk (Westar Institute, Jesus Seminars) John Shelby Spong and others. Such inquiries are certainly not welcome in my current denomination. "Tradition" is, of course, important but it is no substitute for "Truth". I am looking forward with great anticipation to my further investigations of the Unitarian Universalists as well as attending the local congregation here in Las Vegas. Thank you so much!

My husband and I grew up Catholic/Mormon, respectively, but both abandoned any religious convictions by the time we were teenagers. Although I occasionally have flirted with the idea of returning to church, I was discouraged by my husband's disinterest and was not sure what type of service to attend. However, with the birth of my brand new daughter, we both agreed that some sort of religious base would add strength to our parenting endeavors.

For over a year I've been looking for a religious tradition that we could all be comfortable with. When I found out about UUA, I was thrilled. Here, we can be part of a spiritual community that promotes a strong social concience without getting caught up in sacramental specifics that stifle our ability to develope our own philosophies. Sunday we will attend our first church service--hope it goes well!

This site has been invaluable to my "research." Thank you!

comment: Its always good to be among UUs whether here in Florida, our home church in Syracuse, or any other place we find ourselves including The Web.

I paid a visit today looking for UUA leadership guidance in dealing with congregational stress as we approach war. Perhaps a reader has suggestions.

Trying to get going with a group here next week! No others are registered in this country, but I feel strongly that there are many who would welcome this liberal alternative to the State Church. Wish us luck! Jane Robertson

I will be attending my first UU service tomorrow in Grass Valley, CA. I have been a seeker for many years, but have been loathe to become a member of an "organized" religion. I do believe that I will have found my "niche" with UUA. Thank you for a very informative site.

We have a mixed marriage (United Methodist/Reformed Jew) and a four-year old daughter who is asking wonderful questions about life, death, God, heaven and angels. We did a lot of pre-marriage counseling and looking into congregations including a number of UU congregations. We didn't at the time think that UU as for us. Now I'm having second thoughts and think we need to revisit with our daughter and find out if this is where we belong. I'm interested in the pamphlet on Religious Education and Children. The thing my husband and I both agreed on a long time ago was that we would teach our children the Golden Rule and the Ten Commandments... I would love some reassurance that these basic principles are taught in UU religious schools.
